π Introduction
Registering your works in your Soundreef Account is a fundamental step to ensure the proper management and collection of your rights.
The registration procedure is completely free of charge and can be completed both from the web version of your Account and through the Soundreef app.
In this guide, weβll walk through step by step how to complete a full and optimized registration!
1οΈβ£π§Ύ Entering Works Details
To register a new Song, access the Songs section and start a +New Registration. You will be asked for a few essential details:
β
β Song Title
β Artist Name under which it is published or distributed online
β Music Genre, choosing from the dropdown menu
β
π If you are registering multiple works, you can speed up the process by automatically copying the same artist and genre for all titles.
β
πΉ Note: If the Work has alternative titles, you can report them to Soundreef support to have them correctly registered.
2οΈβ£π₯ Adding Rights Holders and Ownership Shares
After entering the Work details, you need to indicate the rights holders and their ownership shares:
β
β Assign the Performance and Mechanical rights shares for each holder.
β The total rights split must reach 100% of both Performance and Mechanical rights.
β If you are the sole rightholder of the Work, you can assign yourself 100% of both Performance and Mechanical rights.
β If you have co-authors or publishers registered with Soundreef, you can find them through the search system.
β If co-authors or publishers are not registered with Soundreef, you can add them manually.
βοΈ There are no fixed limits for composition shares:
β Authors/composers can hold and assign themselves anywhere from 0% to 100% of both performance and mechanical shares.
π’ Only the publisher performance shares have a limit:
β Publishers can hold and assign themselves up to 50%, in line with international collecting rules.
β
π‘ The rights split is established among the rights holders and is not decided by Soundreef. It is a private agreement that must be respected during registration.
3οΈβ£ποΈ Digital Consent and Acceptance of the List of Works
To complete the registration, you must provide your digital consent on the Registration Summary Document (List of Works). Itβs very simple: just select the acceptance checkbox with a single click!
ββ Consent is required for the registration to be valid.
β The acceptance checkbox is naturally completed only by Soundreef authors/publishers β additional rights holders (not registered with Soundreef) register and sign their own forms with their respective collecting societies.
β Before acceptance through digital consent, you can preview the Registration Summary Document and verify that all details are correct before generating and accepting it.
π Remember that you can always view and download the PDF of your List of Works, including the full summary of your registration data (details of the registered works, rights holders, ownership shares).
4οΈβ£ποΈ Uploading the MP3 File and ISRC Code
After accepting the List of Works, you can add supplementary data (strongly recommended) to improve usage tracking:
β
β MP3 File: useful for radio/TV monitoring and obtaining Blockchain Certification.
β ISRC Code: essential for tracking and collecting online and YouTube royalties.
β
π If you don't have the ISRC code yet, you can add it later without any issues, even after the registration has been completed.
5οΈβ£π§© Adding Songs Versions
If you have multiple versions of the same Work (radio edit, instrumental, remix, alternative take, etc.), you can upload them directly in the Versions tab.
β
β Each version can have a separate MP3 file and a specific ISRC code.
β If a version has a different rights split, it is considered a separate Work; you will need to register it as a separate Song.
β If a version has the same rights split, and only the master recording has changed, you can simply add it as a Song Version.
β
β This feature is particularly useful for those who publish remixes, instrumental tracks, or alternative versions of the same work.
