🎡 Optimizing My Soundreef Catalog: Key Data and Best Practices 🎡

Updated over a week ago

Registering a track in your Soundreef profile is the first step to ensure its management and royalty collection. To get the most out of your registration, it's important to complete it with all the essential details right from the start.

Here are some tips to optimize it and improve the tracking of your music.

πŸ“ 1️⃣ Full chain of ownership: include all rights holders

βœ” Always indicate all authors and publishers involved in the track's chain of ownership.
βœ” If the track has multiple owners, make sure to mention each of them, specifying:

  • Role (Author, Composer, Sub-author, Publisher, Sub-publisher, etc.)

  • DEM % Shares (musical performance rights)

  • DRM % Shares (mechanical reproduction rights)
βœ” If you know each owner's IPI code, include it: it helps correctly identify your co-authors/publishers and simplifies rights management.

πŸ“Œ Changes in the chain of ownership?
If the track undergoes changes, such as the entry of a new publisher or changes in shares, contact us to update the registration. If the rights holders are also registered with other collecting societies, it's important to communicate the change to them as well, to avoid inconsistencies in rights management.

πŸ“œ 2️⃣ Sign the List of Works to confirm the registration

βœ” The registration becomes official only after the List of Works is signed by all the Soundreef authors/publishers involved.
βœ” Without the signature, the registration remains incomplete and cannot be managed for royalty collection.
βœ” Periodically check that there are no Lists of Works awaiting signature in your account.

πŸ“Œ Need to resend an expired List of Works? Contact Soundreef support via Messenger on the website or in your Soundreef account, with the registration details and we will resend it.

🎧 3️⃣ Add metadata: MP3 and ISRC code

βœ” The MP3 file is not mandatory for registering the track, but it is highly recommended, as it allows radio and TV monitoring.
β€‹βœ” The ISRC code is the unique code of the audio track, essential for tracking online uses and on YouTube.

πŸ“Œ Where to obtain the ISRC?

πŸ‘‰ If you don't have the ISRC at the time of the Soundreef registration, you can add it later without any issues.

πŸ“Œ Why upload the MP3?

  • To access free real-time radio and TV monitoring.

  • To obtain Blockchain Certification, useful for certifying the existence and authorship of the track, as supporting documentation in case of plagiarism disputes.

πŸ”„ 4️⃣ Upload alternative versions of the track

If your track has different versions, you can add them to your profile:
βœ” Radio version, remix, instrumental, acoustic, etc.
βœ” Same chain of ownership? Add them as Versions of the same track.
βœ” Different chain of ownership? Register them as separate tracks.

πŸ“Œ You can upload additional versions at any time, by selecting the track and accessing the Versions tab.

🏷 5️⃣ Use Song Tags to easily organize and find your tracks

βœ” Song Tags are customizable labels that help you classify your tracks, according to a specific criteria.
βœ” They are useful for easily searching the repertoire and filtering reports in your account.
βœ” You can assign Tags based on:

  • Music project

  • Collaborations with specific authors/publishers

  • Type of track (singles, soundtracks, jingles, etc.)

  • Specific use (Live, Radio, TV, YouTube)

πŸ“Œ Where to add Song Tags?
You can set them at the time of deposit or add them later, directly from the track's Tag tab.

βœ… Conclusion

1️⃣ Enter all rights holders with correct shares.
2️⃣ Sign the List of Works to complete the registration.
3️⃣ Upload MP3 and ISRC to optimize usage tracking.
4️⃣ If you have alternative versions, add them to enhance monitoring.
5️⃣ Use Song Tags to better organize the repertoire and facilitate report searches.
