📌 What is the purpose of certification?
✔ Provides a technical and verifiable proof of the track's creation.
✔ Acts as a safeguard in case of disputes or legal challenges (e.g., plagiarism).
✔ Ensures traceability and transparency through cryptographic technology.

🔹 It is not automatic: registering in Soundreef does not automatically certify the track on the Blockchain.
🔹 You can initiate it manually after registering, by requesting it from your profile in the Certification section of your Track.

🔹 You will receive a certificate in PDF format, which will include:

Every MP3 audio file you upload for your tracks can be uniquely identified through a hash fingerprint, which is a sort of digital fingerprint generated by the Secure Hash Algorithm 256 (SHA-256).

This process transforms your track's audio file into a unique code, which serves to unmistakably identify it. Thanks to this fingerprint, it is possible to ensure that the file has not been altered since its creation.

📌 Timestamp and validity
​The timestamp plays a key role in the certification process, indicating the exact moment the track was recorded on the Blockchain. This timestamp is crucial because it establishes a before and after in the work's existence timeline, providing proof in disputes over possible copyright violations.

You can check the certification status at any time directly from your Soundreef profile.

✔ Download the MP3 audio file of your track and the associated OTS
✔ Use external services like OpenTimestamps to verify the timestamp and the Blockchain block where the track was recorded.

📌 The immutability of the Blockchain ensures that recorded data cannot be modified or deleted.

If your track has already been certified with another collecting society, there is no need to repeat the certification in Soundreef.

✔ An existing certificate, even if obtained through another service, remains valid as proof of ownership.
✔ If the track is unreleased, you can initiate certification on Soundreef to obtain an additional protection tool.

🔹 Does Soundreef intervene in legal disputes over plagiarism?
No, neither Soundreef nor other collecting societies can intervene in legal disputes or determine if plagiarism has occurred.

✔ Soundreef does not determine chains of ownership nor resolve ownership issues on musical works.
​✔ Blockchain certification provides you with an additional tool to demonstrate the date and existence of your track at a specific moment.
✔ Only a court can determine if plagiarism has occurred or define any contested rights.

🔹 Can I certify alternative versions of my track?
Yes, you can certify both the Main Version and any alternatives.

🔹 Does registering in Soundreef automatically certify the track on the Blockchain?
No, these are two separate procedures:
✔ The registration is for rights management and royalty collection purposes.
✔ The Blockchain certification is an optional service that certifies the existence of a track at a given moment for protection purposes.

🔹 What happens if I modify the MP3 file after certification?
If the file is modified, the Hash fingerprint will change, necessitating a new certification.
