📌 Introduction
Once completed, a registration cannot be deleted from your account.
However, in some specific cases, we can intervene to cancel or remove it.
📌 Delete a Registration: When Is It Possible?
🔹 1. Duplicate Registration
Did you accidentally register the same track multiple times? Okay, you can delete the duplicates.
✔ Are the duplicate registrations at 50% completion? Delete them directly from your ongoing deposits.
✔ Are the duplicate registrations already completed, with List of Works generated/signed? In this case, contact Soundreef support via Messenger on the site or in your account. We recommend being very precise in identifying the duplicate to be deleted to proceed with the cancellation process.
🔹 Incorrect Registration
If you made a mistake, the procedure changes depending on the type of modification needed:
✔ Do you need to correct the registration? You don't need to delete it. Read the article on How to Modify a Registration: you can update the title, artist name, ownership shares, MP3/ISRC metadata, and versions without deleting anything.
🚫 You cannot cancel a registration to modify shares or rights holders. You simply need to request an update of the chain of ownership of your track.
🚫 If you are no longer the publisher of the track, you do not need to delete it. You simply need to request an update of the chain of ownership and provide us with the supporting publishing transfer documentation.
✔ Do you want to permanently cancel the work? If the track should not be registered and should not be modified, you need to provide us with a valid reason.
📌 When can you request a permanent cancellation?
❌ You are not the legitimate rights holder of the track.
❌ You do not have the consent of the original authors/publishers for the deposit of your rearrangement.
❌ There are other legal reasons preventing the registration.
⚠️ Copyright is inalienable. If you are the author/composer of a track, you cannot "stop being one": copyright rules do not allow it.
📌 Involvement of Other Rights Holders
If the deposit includes co-authors or publishers, it is mandatory to involve them in the cancellation request:
✔ Include them in CC in the communication to the support team.
✔ They must be informed and agree with the cancellation.
If the track has been registered with multiple collecting societies, the modification must be communicated to all involved societies to keep the chain of ownership aligned.
🛠 How to Request the Removal of a Registration?
If you fall into the two cases above (duplicate or error to be canceled), follow this procedure:
📌 1. Contact Soundreef Support, and provide:
✔ Work ID, or title and artist name of the track to be deleted
✔ Reason for the request
📌 2. Request Evaluation
Our team will verify the request and update you on the outcome. If approved, the registration will be removed from the systems.
✅ How to Prevent Duplicates and Incorrect Registrations?
🔹 Check your repertoire before registering a track
Use the search function in your account, in the Tracks section, to verify that the track has not already been registered.
🔹 Carefully review the details and chain of ownership
Ensure all details are correct before generating the List of Works.
🔹 Avoid newly registering the track
If you need to update titles, artist names, shares, or MP3/ISRC metadata, you can modify the existing work without deleting and redoing it.
❓ FAQ
🔹 I need to upload a new mp3 version and remove the previous one. Can I delete the deposit and re-upload everything?
It is not necessary to delete the work. You can simply upload a new MP3 version directly in your account and let us know which version to remove. Read here.
🔹 I need to remove a work because it was uploaded incorrectly (wrong chain of ownership/wrong ISRC/wrong mp3/wrong title). What do I do?
Do not delete the work and do not redeposit: you can correct all these data. Just request a modification, following the instructions here.
🔹 I registered the same track twice. Can I remove the duplicate?
Yes. If the duplicate is still in the registration phase (without List of Works), you can delete it yourself. If it is already completed, contact support and we will remove it for you.
📌 Conclusion
✅ A registration can only be deleted if it is a duplicate or an error, justified, to be canceled.
❌ It cannot be deleted to modify shares, co-authors, or other details: they simply need to be updated.
🛠 To request deletion, contact support with Work ID and a clear reason.
🔍 Preventing duplicates is simple: check your repertoire before registering your work.
