❓ Can I Use a Pseudonym on Soundreef?

Updated over a week ago

📌 Introduction

Yes, you can use a pseudonym to manage your repertoire in Soundreef, but it's important to first clearly distinguish between the concepts of pseudonym, artist name, and personal stage name.

Let's see how pseudonym registration works and what to do to activate it correctly.

🖋️ First Registration in Soundreef: With Your Real Data

Your first registration as an Author must always be done with your real personal data, which are also needed for generating your IPI code.

Once the registration is complete, you can then add a separate profile for the pseudonym, linked to your main account.

✍️ How the Pseudonym Profile Works

The pseudonym is an additional/fictitious name, linked to your main authorial position - and which you can use, if you wish, to register your works.

🔹 Remember that:

📌 Registering a Pseudonym also involves generating the respective Pseudonym IPI code in the international database - directly linked to your position.

📌 It requires the creation of a dedicated Soundreef profile, linked to the main one, within which your repertoire registered with the Pseudonym IPI code will be included.

If you wish to register a Pseudonym profile linked to your main account, contact Soundreef support via Messenger on the site or in account.

🎤 Artist Name: Enter It During Your Tracks' Registration

By artist name we mean the name under which your specific track is published and distributed online (e.g., band, musical project, artist/performer).

  • It may or may not coincide with your pseudonym

  • You enter it every time you register a new track

  • It is modifiable independently from the account at any time

If you need to update the artist name of one or more Tracks, you can modify it directly in the account, independently, and on the Track itself.

🎭 Stage Name (Personal): Optional Information

The stage name is a simple personal information that you can enter in your profile, purely related to your registration in Soundreef:

  • It has no impact on track registration

  • It is only used to complete your personal profile

  • It can be added or modified by contacting support

If you wish to add/update your stage name in your Soundreef profile, contact Soundreef support via Messenger on the site or in account.

🧩 Pseudonym and Account Management: Beware of Duplicate Profiles

  • You can have more than one profile, but only if they are of different types (e.g., Author + Publisher, separately; or Author + Author/Pseudonym, directly linked)

  • It is not possible to create duplicate accounts for the same position (e.g., two Author profiles with the same data)

  • If you need to modify data or add a pseudonym, contact us: we'll take care of it

🎯 Artist Name or Pseudonym? Pay Attention to the Differences

If you want to identify tracks linked to different musical projects, you can simply do so by indicating the correct artist name each time during registration.

You can also use Song Tags to better distinguish your projects when consulting the repertoire.

The artist name is flexible:

  • you enter it for each track

  • it can change depending on the project

  • you can update it independently from the account

The pseudonym, on the other hand, is a specific technical configuration:

  • it is linked to a dedicated IPI code in the international database

  • it requires the creation of a separate profile

  • it is used within distribution schemes

  • it involves managing a Repertoire (and related Reports) separately from the main profile

Carefully evaluate what you need and your specific requirements - so you can understand whether the differentiation of artist names is sufficient or if what you need is the creation of a Pseudonym position.

❓ FAQ

🔹 Can I register only with my pseudonym?
No. You must first register with your real data, then you can add a pseudonym as a linked profile.

🔹 Does the pseudonym have a separate IPI code?
Yes, each pseudonym profile has its own distinct IPI code, registered in the international database.

🔹 Can I use the pseudonym as the artist name of the Track?
Yes, if it is the name under which the track is published and distributed.

🔹 Is the stage name necessary for registration?
No. It is just an optional personal information, related to your authorial figure.

✅ Conclusion

You can register your works in Soundreef also using a pseudonym, but the main registration must be done with your real data. The pseudonym is managed as an additional profile, with a dedicated IPI code, and allows you to sign and appear in the distribution scheme under that specific name.

To activate it, just contact us: we will take care of configuring everything correctly in your account.
