What is the IPI code?
The IPI (Interested Party Information) code is a unique international identification number, usually 9-11 digits long, used by all collective management organizations to identify songwriters, composers, and publishers worldwide. This code uniquely represents you as the owner of your rights, distinguishing you from all other songwriters, composers, and publishers.
The IPI code is essential for linking your musical Works to your rights, enabling the tracking of your music’s performances and ensuring the correct royalties are paid. That’s why it is crucial to specify the IPI codes of other rights holders when registering a Work.
How do I get an IPI code with Soundreef?
A) Is Soundreef your first collecting society?
Within 5 weeks form the activation of your first Works registration in your account, you will find your IPI code directly associated with your profile.
B) Are you switching from another collecting society to Soundreef?
You can provide us with your IPI code during the "Account Verification" phase, immediately after signing up. If you don’t remember your IPI code or are unsure if it is correct, don’t worry: we will retrieve it using the historical information provided during the "Account Verification" itself. How long does it take to retrieve this information? Exactly the time needed for the account validation process, which is about one week.
FAQ/Clarifications
Can I register my Works while waiting to receive my IPI code?
Yes. In fact, the activation of your first Work registration in your account is necessary to generate your IPI code. In the meantime, you can continue registering additional Works. When your IPI code becomes available, it will appear directly during the Works registration process, linked to your profile.
Can I request clarifications on the timings for generating my IPI code?
Of course. Write to our Customer Service, providing the personal details associated with your Soundreef profile and the date of your first Work registration. We will internally check the status of your IPI generation and get back to you with the necessary information.
